Brigid is a pre-Christian Celtic goddess of the Spring and Summer associated with the return of light, new growth and fecundity. Still widely revered today, natural springs are worshipped in her honor and Brigid crosses of reeds and flowers are laid on them.
She is the counter balance to Cailleach, goddess of winter.
