A Selkie is a pre-Christian, Celtic mythological shape shifter who turns from a seal to a woman by shedding her seal skin… she is however never fully not a seal and can return to the sea if she reunites with her seal skin. She is revered as a protector of the fisherman and a connection to the ancient past.
